Robert M. Cook is a nationally recognized livestock attorney. Mr. Cook practices in Phoenix, Arizona, one of the leading agricultural areas, particularly in produce. He has been a member of the State Bar of Arizona since 1970 and is a member of the Missouri Bar and the State Bar of Nebraska. Mr. Cook attended the State University of Iowa, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1964, and he obtained a Juris Doctorate in 1970 from Arizona State University. He commenced his practice in 1970 as an associate with Brown and Bain of Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Cook has rather often participated as a presenter in Agricultural Law, Bankruptcy, Taxation, Employment Law, and Ethics CLE Seminars. He has also made presentations before Congress. Before he became an attorney, Mr. Cook owned and operated the Valentine Livestock Market in Valentine, Nebraska, and was a Market Agency and Livestock Dealer. He is an auctioneer. Throughout his career, Mr. Cook has represented livestock markets, cattle feeders, packers, produce companies, farmers, ranchers and livestock dealers. He has tried in excess of 100 agricultural law matters and has filed over 350 Chapter 11, and Chapter 12, Cases, Family Farmers bankruptcies. His daily practice involves agricultural litigation, general farming issues and substantial Chapter 11 cases. Mr. Cook was named to the Rules of Professional Conduct Committee of the State Bar of Arizona for the period 1997 through 2003, as well as appointed as a member of the Ethical Rules Rewrite Group for 2001. Mr. Cook was appointed a disciplinary hearing/settlement officer for the State Bar, and he has served as an ad hoc member of the Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Arizona.
